Why convert JPG to PNG?

Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, while JPG saves space by throwing away small details. For photos, a PNG is often several times larger.
Will this make my picture sharper or the background transparent?
No. Converting to PNG keeps the picture exactly as it is now, but it cannot bring back detail that the JPG already lost, and it does not remove the background. You need an editing program for that.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your images are never sent to our server or to anyone else.
Can I convert many images at once?
